Conference: Medical Imaging – New Perspectives and the Role of OCT

November 8, 2018, 10.00-16.30 h, Tokyo Women’s Medical University (TWMU), Yayoi Memorial Lecture Hall

Medical imaging is in a dynamic time of change: The needs of medical experts for improved imaging modalities in the areas of diagnostics and therapy lead to increased demands for appropriate technical support. The increasing importance of intraoperative imaging and the simultaneous growth of minimally invasive procedures demands for intelligent solutions. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a technology that can make valuable contributions to this demand.

The conference addresses both the clinical needs and requirements as well as the technical approaches. The conference focus lays on OCT technology, which improves the clinical workflow of medical professionals and reduces the burden on patients. Key applications are the diagnosis and therapy of cancer.

The one-day event will present clinical trends and application examples along with technical development approaches.

The conference addresses:

  • clinical experts
  • engineering experts
  • business developers
  • funding authorities
  • academics

The conference will be jointly organized by Fraunhofer and TWMU/ABMES as part of the joint venture OCTmapp. The OCTmapp project will establish a research presence in Tokyo focusing on OCT for new clinical applications.
